Introduced as part of Nike’s ‘The 10th’ collection with a brand new React silhouette, the React Ianga Shoes take inspiration from the 10th Mountain Division during World War II which included the brands co-founder Bill Bowerman. The silhouette is reminiscent of military combat jungle boots and has been adapted with elements from street runner footwear to suit contemporary streetwear culture. A combination of black durable canvas and smooth leather has been selected for the uppers, with extra attention around the tech lace fastening system through curved wheat coloured leather overlays that add a distinctive design detail to either shoe. Branded with a small white Swoosh tick printed in white above the bottom edge, black nylon straps secure the laces and extend into a loop on one side of the foot entrance point, mirrored by a wheat coloured cord along the back of the heel. The slim leather tongue wraps around the front of the foot and works in harmony with the ankle collar to provide a high level of comfort and support.

Differing to the majority of Nike styles, micro branding has been selected for a refined finish with simple ‘THE10TH’ text printed upon a fabric strap secured with bartack stitching and single Swoosh ticks above the leather toe box. The sculpted outsole and tread pattern features Nike React foam developed to ensure a high level of response when in motion whilst also adding a textural element to the design with wheat and ceramic orange coloured inserts. Additionally, moulded curved areas flow into a protective layer around the bottom of the heel.

Following on from the experimental Nike Moc Shoes, the React Ianga shoes have arrived alongside the React Sertu as part of ‘The 10th’ series which emphasises Bowerman’s part within the famously tough Mountain Division. Technical elements run throughout each style, taking influence from purposeful footwear used within various operations, paired with contemporary fabrics and stylised details that equal distinctive, innovative styles.
